Upgrading of Mohalalitoe Roads Network

The construction of the project is going on. As of end of March 2019 construction is 50% complete.
Location
The project is located in Maseru, Lesotho within the Stadium Area Constituency. The area is bound by A1 Road on the west and the Lakeside to Thamae road on the north.
1. Description of Works
The aim of the project is to upgrade the roads network in the suburb of Mohalalitoe by the construction of 5.44 km of district collectors, residential access collector and access roads. The construction includes preparation of the road bed which will involve cuts and fills, construction of pavement layers, installation of new culverts, surfacing the road with Asphalt and Block paving, installation of kerbs and channels, pedestrian crossings, sidewalks and high mast flood lighting.
4.1 Location The project is located in Maseru in the Stadium Area Constituency. The area is bounded by the A1 Road on the west and the Lakeside to Thamae road on the north.
4.2 Scope of Works
Construction of 5.4 km of district collectors, residential access collector and access roads. Lighting of the project roads is by way of high mast flooding. The road corridors range from 4.0 m to 7.5 m. As such there is a need for relocation of some existing properties to accommodate the minimum road reserve of 10.0 m. The relocations also covers utility services vis-à-vis; LEC Lines, WASCO pipelines and accessories and Econet-Telecom Lesotho services.
Contractor Appointment
The contract was awarded to UNIK Construction (Lesotho) for an amount of M62,000,000.00
Commencement Date: 13 February 2018
Completion Date: 12 February 2020
The project was officially opened by His excellency Mr Habofanoe Lehana, Minister of Local Government and Chieftainship, on 3 March 2018.
